Acaster Steel was started on 23rd October 1990 by Paul Dodsworth and David Purdy.

The company was formed with the main aim being to provide a good service to customers and a comprehensive stock range. This has been achieved by monitoring closely the needs and wishes of our customers, many of whom have been with us since day one.

Initially the stock range was concentrated on sheet and plate, and quite soon the company had a good stock range of miscellaneous, non-prime and coil end material.

Prime standards from 2metre x 1metre up to 5metre x 2.5metre have been added over the years, and with a stock range covering hot rolled, cold reduced , galvanised and zintec sheet. All of this material can be supplied in decoiled or cut to size form as well as standard sizes.

Due to the demands of the local farming community, we have increased our stock range on section to such a degree that we now carry in stock- flats,convex flats rounds, squares,angles, rectangular and circular hollow section, galvanised and self colour weldmesh, channels, all types of bright bar,we also have access to comprehensive stock availability of stainless steel,aluminium, copper,brass,all materials can be offered cut to size or as required.

It quickly became obvious that the local construction industry was crying out for a supplier of steel delivered reliably and quickly. We now stock a very good range of beams and columns all of which can be cut to size on our brand new state of the art Hydmech Canadian saw.

Re-inforcement bar and mesh is available from stock and tying wire top hat section etc can be delivered quickly and reliably to sites from the Scottish Borders to the Midlands and Wales. Material can be primer painted and drilling and welding of gussets base plates and spacers is offered as an extra facility.
